As I mentioned that this artwork is created using multiple pencils, I am able to show the differences of the darkness of the pencil. As you can see in the artwork, I use darker pencils such as 4B on the edge of objects as the roof of the house and the edge of the sail, while using lighter pencils on the waves and the snow flakes. In this way, the main objects will look more 3D and popping out to draw the viewers' attention.

In this painting, I intend to express my identity by sharing two of my favourite sports, sailing and skiing. I really think they can represent me because these are two new sports I picked up after I came to LCS. In this case, they can represent my journey of growing up and thriving by learning new things and facing the challenges. Just like the sailboat in the painting, Towards the Waves, overcoming the obstacles and staying courageous is what I want to describe myself. In terms of skiing, I want to convey the happiness and sense of satisfaction after trying hard, which is much like the exciting experience of skiing downhill after climbing hard up the mountain top.

The case is true in drawing, for the process of drawing is exhausting and hard, however once finished, the feeling of fulfillment can bring much more than just "completed". A genuine joy, it is!

Overall, I think this artwork is successful. When I finished this painting, I was thinking about adding some water colour to make it colourful, however, it didn't turn out to be great and the colour was mixed with the pencil strokes which was almost a mess. After that, I decide to use the photo of the painting before adding water colour as the final piece.

In the sketch section below, I want to show a few photos of my inspiration instead of sketches because I forgot to take photos when I was making the artwork. By showing where I got the idea from might help understanding of the creative process.
